Recreational marijuana was legalized in Canada under the Cannabis Act, which has been in effect from October 2018. Canada is the second country in the world to legalize cannabis for recreational use nationwide after Uruguay. In the year following the legalization of recreational cannabis, marijuana sales reached around $908 million, with more than 400 retail stores available across the country. However, sales from online shops and retail stores accounted for only around 15 percent of the total revenue as of September 2019, according to a report by Statistics Canada released last December....
Joan McInnes, who is the chief executive of the Scottish Cancer Support organization, posted numerous offensive remarks on her social media pages insulting Muslim and disabled people, the Daily Record reported. The SCS raises some $488,000 every year to “support services that aim to alleviate hardship for cancer sufferers throughout Scotland.” Though McInnes used her Facebook page to raise funds for the charity, she also used it to share her bigoted personal views....
Owens took to Twitter on Wednesday to share a post highlighting an NPR report about the CDC’s plans. CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky called gun violence a “serious public health threat” in an interview with CNN on Wednesday, saying it was “pedal to the metal time” on the issue. Owens tweeted: “The CDC needs to be shut down. There is no other way to say it.” The agency has been unable to conduct research into gun violence for years in large part because the gun lobby convinced members of Congress to cut funding for it in 1997....

Coach Todd Reirden said Friday that Kempny is out indefinitely with a lower-body injury. Kempny appeared to injure his left leg in an overtime loss to Tampa Bay on Wednesday, when he needed helped getting to the locker room. Reirden said the 28-year-old from the Czech Republic is still undergoing tests and he didn’t want to rule out Kempny for the rest of the regular season. “I don’t feel comfortable saying that until I get a little bit more medical advice on that one, and so we go through all the proper testing we need to know so we can set that proper timetable,” Reirden said....
